Beck ep. 8

Announcement within the School

The 2 fangirls return to Japan safely and they show Ryuusuke a blurry picture of the dog they saw in New York. Ryuusuke burns up the picture. At a Buddhist temple, Koyuki wishes to be in a different class than Hyodo for the new school year. Koyuki practices guitar some more. The seniors graduate, including Izumi-sempai. On his way to work (at Saitou-san’s place), Koyuki runs into Momoko-sensei. Koyuki introduces her to Saitou-san who seems to be smitten with her. Unfortunately, she sees Saitou-san’s secret porn stash. Since working is forbidden at Koyuki’s school, Saitou-san tells Momoko-sensei that he’s just Koyuki’s swimming and guitar instructor (awww how nice!)

Ryuusuke: "You can play, right?"
The new school year starts and Koyuki seems to have run out of luck since he’s classmates with Hyodo again. Hyodo tells him that Rikiya found out about the Jaguar and he’s asking for 50,000 yen. Saitou-san shows Koyuki his prized Gretsch White Falcon tells Koyuki that he (Saitou) will lend it to Koyuki if Koyuki would help Saitou out with Momoko-sensei. Koyuki runs into Ryuusuke and Ryuusuke invites Koyuki to the studio for a practice session. Ryuusuke asks Koyuki to play with him (he brought the Saitou-san’s White Falcon). Ryuusuke notes Koyuki’s improvement and good music sense.

Koyuki convinces Saitou-san to get rid of his porn collection so that Momoko-sensei will like him. Koyuki, under disguise, sells Saitou-san’s magazines to raise money for Hyodo. Koyuki is about 500 yen short when he hands Hyodo the money but Hyodo pockets Koyuki’s hard-earned money anyway. Koyuki sees Rikiya (he graduated already) in school, expecting him to beat him up, but surprisingly, Rikiya ignored him instead. Koyuki joins Beck for another practice session. Ryuusuke notices Koyuki and Maho-chan getting closer and he gives Koyuki a condom. Maho invites Koyuki to her house (a big one at that!). The condom Ryuusuke gave Koyuki falls out and Maho sees it and she beats Koyuki up (lol!). On his way, Koyuki runs into Izumi-chan at sees her with a boy and Koyuki seems pissed afterwards.

The next day, Koyuki sees his locker filled with trash. Nobody in class would talk to him, too, even his buddy Tanabe. He then sees Hyodo smirking at him. Koyuki passes by the Announcement Room and plays one of Dying Breed’s songs over the school’s sound system. Koyuki gets scolded by the teachers but Koyuki tells Momoko-sensei of a movie in which an innocent man in prison plays a song over the prison’s PA and how the other prisoners felt freedom with that one song. On his way home, a transfer student approaches him and tells him DyBre’s 50 Cent Wisdom is an excellent song. He introduces himself as Sakurai Yuuji. Koyuki tells him not to talk to him anymore since he’s targeted by Hyodo. The next day, Saku approaches Koyuki with bruises on his face (he was approached by Hyodo’s gang and got beaten up) and hands him a CD with DyBre’s live set in Germany. The two talk about music and Eddie Lee and Koyuki invites Saku to Beck’s practice. Taira tells Maho-chan that Ryuusuke plans on including Koyuki to Beck.

Lucille

Koyuki resolves to make Paige sing with his guitar-playing although he realizes that he’s way below Hyodo’s level. Koyuki tells Hyodo and gang that he won’t be buying them melon bread anymore. Koyuki gets called into the teacher’s lounge by Momoko-sensei and as he leaves, she notices shoe marks on his back. Maho visits Koyuki at school. They eat out and Maho tells Koyuki that Beck has a live set coming out. Koyuki doesn’t want to see Ryuusuke until his guitar is fixed. Maho and Koyuki discover Saitou-san’s secret porn stash while Saitou-san was out. During Beck’s show, Koyuki comes anyway, heavily disguised (or so he thinks), but Maho recognizes him anyway. Koyuki sees Ryuusuke on-stage with Lucille and Maho tells him the bullet holes in the guitar are real. Beck performs and the crowd goes wild.

While working for Saitou-san, Saitou tells Koyuki that he secretly had Ryuusuke’s guitar fixed. Koyuki goes to the store to pick the guitar up but on his way back, he runs into Hyodo and Rikiya. Hyodo and Rikiya play Ryuusuke’s guitar (Hyodo is good but Rikiya sucks). Rikiya thinks Koyuki laughed at him when he dropped his pick so he smashes Ryuusuke’s guitar into the pavement, saying it was a crappy guitar anyway. Back at Saitou-san’s place, Koyuki pretends that everything’s alright and smiles for Saitou-san’s sake. At Ryuusuke’s place, Maho finds the real guitar Eddie gave Ryuusuke so the one Ryuusuke gave Koyuki was an imitation.

Maho calls Koyuki out to eat and she invited Ryuusuke, too, but Koyuki runs out when Ryuusuke arrived. Koyuki is sad that Izumi-sempai is graduating soon. Saitou-san extends his vacation in Southeast Asia and he leaves Paige in Koyuki’s care. Koyuki practices his guitar-playing hard. Beck has another show and Eiji comes to watch. Koyuki is there, too, wearing his way-too-obvious disguise. Eiji sees Lucille and wonders how a damaged guitar can produce such great sound. The two fangirls who went to New York to do a documentary for Beck (the band) comes across a weird dog who looks a bit like Beck (the dog).

Prince of Tennis ep. 140-141

Who is the true king?
Tezuka returns as the substitute coach for Ryuzaki’s group. Non-Seigaku members of Ryuzaki’s group underestimate Tezuka so Tezuka challenges them and they end up getting beaten pretty badly by the Tezuka zone (the Seigaku members just sucked up to him). A welcoming party is thrown for Tezuka (Horio was the emcee, wearing a big funny red bow tie; some of the players sang him a song… PoT boyband!, Inui and Fuji performed a magic trick; Oishii did a skit; they didn’t serve food though, just juice). Tezuka’s return inspires Atobe and Sanada to practice harder (is it just me or does Sanada look like Kaidoh without his cap on?). Atobe and Sanada hold a match to see who between them is Tezuka’s true rival. The others skip practice just to watch Atobe and Sanada’s match. Because of their excellent play, Sakaki-sensei (Hyoutei’s coach) stops them at the middle of the match (they were tied) saying they have been selected for the Invitationals.

Sengoku Kiyosumi, Reborn!

Ryuzaki-sensei is confined at the hospital. Seigaku regulars visit her but she shoos them away because they should be practicing instead of wasting their time on her.

sengoku_1.JPG
Sengoku: "Boxing opened a path for me to
change my tennis."
Back at the camp, Ryuzaki’s group holds practice matches. Sengoku challenges Momoshiro. As Sengoku takes off his jersey, everybody admires his muscles. They notice that Sengoku has gotten faster and more powerful. Apparently, he took up boxing after the Kantou Tournament that’s why his brand new spanking moves are reminiscent of boxing. All their games are finished in approximately 3 minutes, the length of one round in boxing. Even Momoshiro’s (Sengoku calls him Omoshiro, which means interesting) Jack Knife and Dunk Smash could not faze Sengoku and in the end, Momoshiro gets pounded and Sengoku wins. After the match, everybody decides that although his playing style changed, Sengoku’s happy-go-lucky personality hasn’t.

Announcement from a Mysterious Thief

ppm78_1.JPG
Momo and Komomo in high society.
Momo and Komomo get a message from London saying that the Mysterious Thief Nonky will be stealing Count Fleming’s golden watch tonight. The pair go to London in their helicopter. As they arrive at the Fleming Mansion, they get trapped in a cage by a Scotland Yard Police Inspector, thinking that they’re the Mysterious Thief Nonky. The two show the Inspector Momo’s toy watch which looks similar to Count Fleming’s. The only way to tell them apart is that Momo’s watch has his name at the back. Miss Leanne, the Count’s daughter arrives and introductions are made. But then, the golden watch suddenly disappears. The Inspector rushes to the scene and our favorite postmen are left with the smiling Miss Leanne.

The Epic Battle of Reclaiming the Treasure

While the Inspector panics, Miss Leanne tells him, "aren’t the people who smile the most, always the most dangerous?" With that Miss Leanne reveals a rocket booster strapped to her back, flies away, declaring that she’s the thief. Momo, Komomo, and the Inspector give chase. When Komomo catches up with Nonky, he tells her that the watch she got was Momo’s toy. She gets disoriented, slams into the Inspector, and falls down with him. Momo and Komomo catch them before they fall to the ground. Once on the ground, the Inspector thanks the two for helping him solve the case. When he asks them when did they switch the watches, Komomo tells him that the one who switched them was the Inspector. They say their goodbyes but as the two leave, somebody tells the Inspector that Nonky has stolen the watch again.

At Full Power! Burn Chouji!

Shikamaru’s team escapes the big guy’s barrier jutsu and they find him all alone. The rest of the enemy have gone ahead. They try attacking the big guy but they just ended up getting pounded instead. After the big guy insults them, calling them stupid subordinates following a stupid leader (Shikamaru), Chouji decides that he will deal with the big guy personally. He tells the others to go ahead and catch Sasuke before the enemy reaches the border. Chouji brings out 3 colored pills from his pocket and swallows the green one. The first pill gives him incredible strength and he engages the big guy. As the four leave in pursuit of Sasuke, Shikamaru promises that they will come back for Chouji. Chouji and the big guy do sumo wrestling and Chouji is able to throw his opponent.

Bring it on!
While running, Shikamaru explains how the 3 pills (green, yellow, and red) are secret medicines from the Akimichi clan. But although these pills increase one’s strength, they have side effects (Chouji starts feeling sharp pain in his body). As the potency of the pills increases, so does the side effects. Shikamaru wants Chouji to stop with the green pill. Apparently, the red one is the most dangerous of the three.

Chouji attacks the big guy with his spiky meatballs technique. His opponent uses an earth wall technique. Chouji breaks through. The opponent activates his cursed seal and is able to throw Chouji. The big guy tells Chouji that Chouji’s useless that’s why his team left him. Chouji recalls how the others always made fun of him. Elsewhere, Shikamaru contemplates how strong Chouji really is, but lacks self-confidence. As the enemy beats him up, Chouj remembers how Shikamaru has always stood by his side, believing in him. Chouji swallows the yellow pill. Chakra starts emanating from his body. Shikamaru believes that people are underestimating Chouji. Chouji supersizes and prepares to attack once more.

It’s the Main Store!! Dancing Meister!

yaki6
Mokoyama preparing for the match.
Kawachi wonders why the Southern Branch isn’t as popular as the Main Branch. Matsushiro, the manager, shows them St. Pierre’s (Pantasia’s rival) Main Store just across the street. They meet Mokoyama, St. Pierre’s Manager, and as Mokoyama insults them, Matsushiro rebuts that Azuma is better than Mokoyama. Mokoyama challenges Azuma to a televised bread competition. Matsushiro accepts the match but back at the store, he tells them that Mokoyama is a highly skilled artisan specializing in sweet bread and that they might lose. Matsushiro tells Tsukino to keep everything a secret from the Main Branch. The next day, the street is filled with banners and streamers announcing the competition (St. Pierre’s doing). A convoy of black cars from Pantasia’s Main Branch arrives. First, Kuroyan (in a suit!) steps out and argues with the Manager but Matsushiro ignores him and Meister Kirisawa climbs out of the car, accompanied by a flock of birds. Meister is the Main Branch’s manager and Tsukino says that although he rarely makes public appearances, he has more power than her grandfather. Meister wants to meet Azuma and goes inside the store. He sees him cooking something (Azuma is making sauce for his Japan #57) and spots a bunch of hardened, leftover bread at the table. Meister asks Azuma how much his bread is. Meister then leaves but before that, he tells Matsushiro that he thinks Azuma is interesting. The day of competition arrives. As Mokoyama and Azuma are introduced, Matsushiro whispers to Kawachi and Tsukino that Azuma’s Japan #57 has a fatal flaw.
