Lucille

Koyuki resolves to make Paige sing with his guitar-playing although he realizes that he’s way below Hyodo’s level. Koyuki tells Hyodo and gang that he won’t be buying them melon bread anymore. Koyuki gets called into the teacher’s lounge by Momoko-sensei and as he leaves, she notices shoe marks on his back. Maho visits Koyuki at school. They eat out and Maho tells Koyuki that Beck has a live set coming out. Koyuki doesn’t want to see Ryuusuke until his guitar is fixed. Maho and Koyuki discover Saitou-san’s secret porn stash while Saitou-san was out. During Beck’s show, Koyuki comes anyway, heavily disguised (or so he thinks), but Maho recognizes him anyway. Koyuki sees Ryuusuke on-stage with Lucille and Maho tells him the bullet holes in the guitar are real. Beck performs and the crowd goes wild.

Koyuki crying over his broken guitar.While working for Saitou-san, Saitou tells Koyuki that he secretly had Ryuusuke’s guitar fixed. Koyuki goes to the store to pick the guitar up but on his way back, he runs into Hyodo and Rikiya. Hyodo and Rikiya play Ryuusuke’s guitar (Hyodo is good but Rikiya sucks). Rikiya thinks Koyuki laughed at him when he dropped his pick so he smashes Ryuusuke’s guitar into the pavement, saying it was a crappy guitar anyway. Back at Saitou-san’s place, Koyuki pretends that everything’s alright and smiles for Saitou-san’s sake. At Ryuusuke’s place, Maho finds the real guitar Eddie gave Ryuusuke so the one Ryuusuke gave Koyuki was an imitation.

Maho calls Koyuki out to eat and she invited Ryuusuke, too, but Koyuki runs out when Ryuusuke arrived. Koyuki is sad that Izumi-sempai is graduating soon. Saitou-san extends his vacation in Southeast Asia and he leaves Paige in Koyuki’s care. Koyuki practices his guitar-playing hard. Beck has another show and Eiji comes to watch. Koyuki is there, too, wearing his way-too-obvious disguise. Eiji sees Lucille and wonders how a damaged guitar can produce such great sound. The two fangirls who went to New York to do a documentary for Beck (the band) comes across a weird dog who looks a bit like Beck (the dog).

ryuusuke introduces chiba to taira and chiba is disappointed taira’s not a girl (taira: can he sing?). maho gives koyuki eddie’s pick she picked up from one of dybre’s concerts. taira tells eiji that he’s joining ryuusuke’s band (it’s magic!). koyuki’s class has a new music teacher, momoko-sensei (momo-chan). koyuki and his friend (i forgot his name) sees momo-chan crying during breaktime because nobody listens to her in class. momoko-sensei asks koyuki to lead the class’s choir for the school festival because she heard he has a good voice (ousu!).

during practice, koyuki asks the class to take things seriously but he meets opposition in hyodo who tears up the lyrics sheet (wow, hyodo looks different in the manga). izumi tells koyuki that ryuusuke’s band had already decided on a name, beck, after ryuusuke’s dog (chiba thought of the name). hyodo sees koyuki getting friendly with ishiguro-sempai. hyodo practices guitar alone inside the music room. while the school was busy making preparations for the school festival, koyuki goes inside the music room and was disappointed nobody is practicing.

he spots a jaguar guitar and starts playing it. enters hyodo and gang who sees koyuki with the jaguar and asks him to play for them. hyodo and gang laughs at koyuki’s playing and koyuki tells them he just started last summer break under saitou’san’s tutelage. one of hyodo’s goons insults saitou-san and koyuki gets mad. the goon attacks koyuki and the guitar falls and gets chipped off. hyodo tells koyuki that the jaguar belongs to rikia, one of the toughest delinquents at school. koyuki sees rikia beating some guy up. hyodo and gang bullies koyuki and forces him to do whatever they please in exchange for not telling rikia about the guitar.

koyuki meets maho and they eat out (maho paid though because hyodo used up all of koyuki’s money). maho asks koyuki to join the band since they were practicing at the studio but koyuki says no because ryuusuke is still mad at him. maho convinces koyuki to take a peek at the band practicing but koyuki runs away after a while. koyuki’s class gets laughed at during the choir festival because they sucked (but i thought they weren’t that bad though). koyuki and friend catches hyodo’s guitar-playing at the festival and they’re impressed.

koyuki talks to hyodo about hyodo’s performance but hyodo orders him to buy food instead (hyodo: i don’t want to talk about music with you). koyuki doesn’t want to comply but he sees rikia beating the school’s judo champion up and koyuki changes his mind. eiji destroys ryuusuke’s guitar so ryuusuke decides to use lucille instead. whew!
